Show #53 - The SnackList List

There comes a time when every ongoing series, whether it be film, television, or, yes, podcast, breaks out of the confines that defined its beginnings, and becomes something new, something like a perfect version of itself. And if this series, this continuing art, is lucky enough to evolve in this way, it has then the potential to achieve something very much like greatness. Nothing at all like that has happened here. But Monolith and BearTrap do discuss a lot of legitimately great movies. At length. Ad nauseum. Quite a bit. Discussed: the curious path of Rod Steiger, 'The Heat of the Night', the probable features of the impending iPhone 5, what the new Facetime has prompted at least one cell phone company to do, an emotional and largely uninformed discussion on the morality and impact of patent law in the wake of the Apple v Samsung verdict, a tiny opinion about one episode of a certain other podcast (if indeed it can be said to exist), the surprising quality of 'The Changeup', Jason Bateman's range, Jason Bateman's best post-'Arrested Development' film roles, a lengthy re-reading of listeners' top six lists each film often accompanied by a comment, and ending with Monolith's top six movies. Click, enjoy, pause every now and again during the 13-hour episode to, you know, get stuff in your life done, and then listen some more.
