Yeah? Better be sure.

We're always thinking of you, the listener. Always. We started up this thing last night and totally meandered through the podcast for the first half hour, just talking about old TV, taking 5 minutes to look up stuff on IMDB, really opposite-of-compelling audio. Luckily, we hit our stride right after that and got to like an hour-15 minutes or so. But, again, because we think of you first, we cut out all that rambling meandering podcast stuff, and cut right to the listenable section. You're welcome. In this one we talk about the new Kindle Fire, e-books versus paper books: what is lost and what is gained, the nature of change (?), certain listeners' DVD shelves and the window into the soul they offer, Stephen King's new 'Shining' sequel, and also Monolith's obsession with the movie 'Thor', who's now seen it four times. We talk about this and more, so, you know, click on the linky thing.

You're an A-1 nutboy, and Grissom knows it.

On this week's podcast we discuss the new Ryan Gosling film, 'Drive'. Bear Trap took in a showing this weekend and drones on and on about it. Seriously, check it out. A certain Best Supporting Actor for a Dramatic Series Emmy win by a certain Mr. Dinklage is discussed and lauded. We also discuss 'Thor' and the trailers for 'Rum Diary', 'J. Edgar', and 'Snowmen'. Also: Monolith tells a joke. This is where the fun starts.

Bonus: Here's a link to the Monolithed version of the 'Snowmen' trailer. Awful family fare is transformed into unnerving weirdness about strange children driven to make snowmen. It's actually kind of great.

You ain't got no future, Jack.

Having devoted the entire show last week to talk of the future (Star Trek), we return to the here and now for this week's podcast. [Fun technical note: we think we might have both microphones working this time, so this one might sound a little less like two guys talking in empty rooms.] On this week's episode, we talk about the number one movie in America, Steven Soderburgh's 'Contagion' (Bear Trap took in a weekend showing), which devolves into some thoughts on whether an actress by the name of Ms. Paltrow is or is not awful. We also ponder the meaning of some early hype for the upcoming Brad Pitt zombie epidemic film, 'World War Z', zombies in general, and then, naturally, boxing. Click on the link for a cochlear massage. It's a good one.

You mean when you run the show?

That show, of course, being ‘Star Trek’. We talk about it. The various series, the movies (particularly the 2009 JJ Abrams reboot), and, you know, what it all means. Also, listen in to hear interesting facts about Monolith’s former life as a Star Trek conventioneer, inside info about a memorable conference call with Captains Picard and Kirk, and an encounter with a future Trek show-runner who fields a TNG idea from a young Monolith. And hang on ‘till the end for a brief discussion on George Lucas’s addition of a dramatic ‘Nooooooo!” to the end of ‘Return of the Jedi’. (Spoiler alert: we think it's awesome.)
