Show #48 - The Thin Dumb Line

A scant three days after recording episode forty-seven, the 'Lith and the Trap reconvened for a special weekend podcast. Tensions were high, targets painted, surveillance windows extremely short. Click 'Play' to hear these General Halftracks talk to the only active-military Little Snack listener. Listen in awe as this employee of the ultra-secretive [redacted] reveals the stunning truth about the [redacted] conspiracy, who [redacted] killed with his bare hands in the Oval [redacted], and how many buzzy, death-dealing [redacted] are currently hovering above your house. Discussed: state secrets, more state secrets and then even more state secrets (kidding!), war movies, the legions of military who really enjoyed the authenticity of 'The Hurt Locker',the genius of 'The Thin Red Line', 'Black Hawk Down', 'Jarhead', 'Band of Brothers', getting shot at, PTSD, the "enemy" and what exactly that means, the standing of the military amongst the electorate and what that might mean, and, finally, what Bear Trap thinks to himself when he sees someone in uniform at the airport. Good times.

Show #47- Joaquin's Whole New Paradigm

Slow news week. No event movies to discuss. No season finales to dissect. These two L. Ron Hubbard's just let it roll on this week's freewheeling episode of the Little Snack. Discussed: The iPad versus Microsoft's new Surface tablet, recent Apple decisions that Steve Jobs probably wouldn't have liked, your humble podcasters' presence at the opening of the first west coast Apple store, the things that are wrong with Joaquin Phoenix, PT Anderson's upcoming film 'The Master' and its fresh teasers, Dolby Atmos, people's willingness to pay when it comes to sound in a theater experience, an actor's departure from a planned sequel that depresses Bear Trap to no end, where we were on 9/11, who got preachy after that bad day and who handled it well, which famous actor is a 'downer', and about thirty other things. Enjoy!

Show #46- What do you mean this isn't LV-426?

They don't come along very often. True event films. We've had plenty of 'Alien' sequels, but this is our first real shot in twenty years at a truly great 'Alien' movie. Does Ridley's return to the universe of terror he established in 1979 astound? Or does it merely confuse? Or something in between? The two Epimetheuses talk this thing deader than a chest-exploded Engineer in this week's episode of Little Snack. Discussed: some nice, non-chestburster-related Apple news, brief movie reviews from Facebook, Bear Trap's befuddlement upon discovering which planet is NOT depicted in 'Prometheus', Monolith's fascination with the meaning behind the mysterious first scene, the reason Bear Trap wasn't totally present for that scene, other movies Ridley may have inserted subtle allusions to, Idris's greatness, how Fassbender's David is like Hopkins' Lecter, Lean-esque moments, pointlessness and how it might apply to 'Prometheus', and lots and lots of questions. Questions that need answering, but probably won't be. Enjoy!

Show #45- Night of the Living White Walkers

You know how, sometimes, listening to the director's commentary on a film you like has the effect of enhancing and expanding your understanding of that film? Well, prepare yourself for the exact opposite of that as Monolith and Bear Trap do a full viewer's commentary on the season two finale of 'Game of Thrones'! From Tyrion's rude awakening to Samwell's run-in with some very pale individuals, these two blab about all of it. For optimal listening "enjoyment", watch the episode along with our resident Hodors. Discussed: Wall-to-wall 'Thrones'. Also: some Apple news right at the top. Our apologies to our listeners who don't give a good goddamn about this show.

Show #44- The Grey Area

Joe Carnahan's $10 check cleared today, so Bear Trap is all about talking up Joe's survival adventure/existential downer 'The Grey' on this week's LittleSnack. Forty minutes in, Monolith has to rein in the adulation, even if the Trap isn't even a quarter of the way done talking about it. After everyone's good and convinced of that film's greatness, these Ignatius J. Reillys move on to wizards in scary marsh-houses, cool and not-cool kids alike exploring their superpowers together, and fresh princes chasing animals in Florida. Click the little button and listen to a very movie-centric episode of the Snack. Discussed: Bloomberg's NYC ban on big containers for liquid, 'The Grey', Dominic Monaghan spilling the beans about Jack Shepard's problem keeping his fists to himself, 'Chronicle' and the secret blend of  'Akira' and nepotism used to make it, how well Harry Potter pretends to be a Muggle in 'The Woman in Black', Boris the Animal's unexpected reaction to meeting his future self in 'Men in Black 3', and a word or two on the coolest explosion you'll ever see on television. Enjoy, friends.
