Show #27: Now I have a Christmas podcast. Ho, ho, ho, ho.

On this week's episode, Santa 'Lith and Rudolph the Red-Nosed BearTrap gather around a hot mic and talk about Christmas. What does it mean, man? What's it all about? Discussed in this 'cast: who's caught the "Christmas spirit" and who's managed to fight it off, whether it is truly better to give than to receive, favorite Yule-time memories, and finally, a whole lotta Christmas movies. 'Scrooged', 'A Christmas Carol', 'A Christmas Story', 'Love, Actually', 'It's a Wonderful Life', Die Hard', you name it, we talk about it. Even if it only mentions Christmas, even if it just has a scene with a Christmas tree in the background, it gets a mention. Exhaustive. And that's why this cast is 7 and a half hours long. You may need to clear some room off your hard drives. And if that's not enticement enough to take a listen, this podcast also features an original Monolithian Christmas recording. I'll not say more. Okay, I'll say more: it's ridiculous. Get your listen on!

Show 26: They won't be scared when you get Carl Grissom in that courthouse. I promised that. Remember?

What don't we talk about in this one? Well, actually, that would be a pretty long list, so maybe that's not the best rhetorical question, but what I mean to say is that this episode is far-ranging and all over the place. Discussed: the strange psychosexual undercurrents in the 1989 "Batman'", why UK actors are getting all the plum acting gigs, what, if anything, will get get people back into the theaters after the worst box office weekend since 2008, a mournful takedown of superhero comics that surprises everyone, a Monolith review of the 'Fright Night" remake, the off-note marketing for the Spielberg movies "Warhorse" and "Tintin", "Green Lantern" is mentioned again, and some other interesting interesting stuff. Thing to listen for: how stoked we are about next week's Christmas podcast for absolutely no reason. Click, yo.

Show #25: I think a lot of people will stay away, Mayor. They're scared.

What begins as a short discussion about some Indiana Jones-related topics turns into a half-assed AFI Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony for Harrison Ford. From 'Force 10 from Navarone' to 'Sabrina' all the way to 'Cowboys and Aliens' the man that is Ford gets discussed and discussed but good. Some points remarked upon at length in this podcast: Is the end of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' narratively 'wrong'? Does the universally maligned 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' deserve a second look? Is Han Solo, as Harrison himself described him, a "thin" character? How would it have been if Tom Selleck had been Indiana? Which movie was the beginning of Harrison's modern day slide into disappointing movies? And what current wunderkind Hollywood big-shot wrote the movie that makes Harrison Ford fans cringe? Also, and just for fun, we complete this anology: Tom Cruise is to Running as Harrison Ford is to ... ? Anyway, we love the guy. Listen and enjoy.

Show 24: You fill this square with people and the businesses will come back here.

This week we get meta on your asses and comment on the comments our commenters commented! Discussed: a little more on CFL bulbs (but only a little more), good versus great movies (wherein the ‘Lith and the Trap disagree!), top 5 sci-fi movies of all time, a revisiting of last week’s video game chat with a reassessment of the Nintendo Wii, Louis CK, the definition of a ‘drama’, and some other tangential stuff that may be of interest. Get your click on?

Show #23: This festival is three-hundred and fifty-thousand dollars in the red and we haven't seen one balloon.

Speaking of balloons, what was that video game where you could grab a hold of some balloons and float to the next platform? I want to say one of the Marios, but maybe something else? Well, if questions like that grab you then you're in for a pre-Thanksgiving treat as the 'Lith and the Trap reminisce in this weeks podcast about all the video games they loved before. We talk about the old Atari E.T. movie tie-in game that nearly brought down the whole company, the joys of Metroid, whether or not you could save your progress on the old NES, and a timeline on when the current consoles came on the market. Full disclosure: a lot of it is one of us wistfully mentioning a video game title and the other saying, "Oh, yeah, I remember that one." It's kind of fun. Also on this episode: a shout-out is given to a far-flung listener, a half-assed discussion on 'Clash of the Titans' (original and remake), and things that we're thankful for are discussed. Click the link for your listening pleasure. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Show 22: Well, we may be celebrating in bankruptcy court.

Running time: 1 hr. 13 minutes. Still there? Haven't clicked to a new tab? Well, then you're in for a treat longform-podcast fans. In our annual week-before-Thanksgiving blowout podcast, the Trap and 'Lith get into BBC America's "Luther" and FX's "American Horror Story". Tune in to see if they are great shows or the greatest shows. Also, Monolith finished Walter Isaacson's epic biography of the recently departed Steve Jobs; he shares his thoughts. Also discussed: Apple's iTunes Match, the career of Idris Elba, Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton, and some other stuff. Enjoy!

Show 21: We're going to celebrate this 200th anniversary proudly and publicly.

Well, its our landmark 21st podcast, and to celebrate we've got that surprise we talked about two podcasts ago, and then didn't have in our last podcast. On this episode we get a little self-referential and discuss why it is we've never introduced ourselves in any of our previous podcasts (no good reason), what the title of this dad-blamed thing is (it is revealed), and the meaning behind the different episode titles (a method behind the madness is also revealed. So much revealed-ness). We also talk about the legacy of Tim Burton's Batman (1989), both Monolith and Bear Trap's various obsessions with that movie as young impressionable men (including a funny/odd story about Bear Trap's afternoon-long obsession with a two-word line from that film), the best movies of 2010, the Coen brothers, 'True Grit', 'A Serious Man', the impossibility of creating true Best Of lists, the Decline and Fall of Brett Ratner, and other craziness. Good stuff, for serious. I recommend a clicky on the linky.

I want a parade. I want hot dogs, balloons, the whole schmear.

We may not have the whole schmear, but on this week's podcast we have at least a partial schmear (yeah, that word gets grosser the more times you write it.) We've got that surprise we talked about last week (be ready for disappointment -- strike that -- ADDITIONAL disappointment), and we've also got a "Breaking Bad" update. Turns out Monolith watched every episode last weekend and has new, more nuanced opinions on the show. We also share some thoughts on the Idris Elba BBC drama "Luther", which devolves into a bet regarding the inevitable(?) US remake of that show. And finally we weigh in with some thoughts on the current Republican field of candidates for President. Yeah it's not biased at all. Best of all: the audio has been improved by friend of the 'cast, Explosive Bolts. Second best: running time is less than an hour. Now is the time when you click the link.

I don't care how deeply in debt this festival is.

And it's also Bear Trap and Monolith! On this week's episode, the Trap struggles to make sense of a Ben Affleck-directed "Stand" adaptation, and 'Lith talks a bit more about his views on "Breaking Bad". Also discussed are early opinions of Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs, the new FX show, "American Horror Story", and the tantalizing possibility of a sequel to one of the best comedies of the 90's, "Dumb and Dumber". Oh and then we make an ill-advised foray into politics with a discussion of the Occupy protests. Enjoy this one, folks. Really enjoy it.

Where you been spending your nights?

Well, for both Monolith and Bear Trap, at least one of those nights was spent watching the season premiere of AMC's 'The Walking Dead'. Listen in to this week's podcast as our two favorite know-nuthin's talk about how the zombie show Darabont built is faring at the beginning of its sophomore season. Spoiler alert: not too good. Also featured is a live demonstration of Siri, the new voice recognition software available on the new iPhone 4S. In this podcast you will hear Siri's response to that age old question: "What is the meaning of life?" We also talk about 'Green Lantern', Ryan Reynolds, the new DC Comics Superman reboot, Superman vs. Batman, what scares us, and then we talk about two new trailers: 'The Avengers' and 'The Raven'. We're mixed on one and pretty negative on the other. Tune into find out who gets the thumbs down.

We are now on iTunes!

Hey fellow cake eaters, after a long and lengthy process of submitting to iTunes we have finally been accepted. They kept asking if we could do anything about the subject matter and make it more interesting. We said no. So click on the link and subscribe to the cast!

See? You can make a good decision when you try.

After a sad week for Apple and fans of innovative geniuses, Monolith and Bear Trap discuss the impact and legacy of the late great Steve Jobs. Monolith surprises all with some eloquence on the subject. Bear Trap surprises no one by providing none at all. And then just to take the energy down a notch, the discussion shifts into inspiration in art and what motivates us to do creative work. It's kind of navel-gazey but, you know, just let it play in the background while you surf the net. Whatevs. We enjoyed ourselves. Some highlights: Listen to the girlish delight when Bear Trap finds out from Monolith that one of Metallica's early albums is called "Kill 'Em All", find out how a 12-year old Bear Trap thought film scores were created, and discover the truth behind Monolith's previous life as a practitioner of the performing arts. You know what to do next.

Yeah? Better be sure.

We're always thinking of you, the listener. Always. We started up this thing last night and totally meandered through the podcast for the first half hour, just talking about old TV, taking 5 minutes to look up stuff on IMDB, really opposite-of-compelling audio. Luckily, we hit our stride right after that and got to like an hour-15 minutes or so. But, again, because we think of you first, we cut out all that rambling meandering podcast stuff, and cut right to the listenable section. You're welcome. In this one we talk about the new Kindle Fire, e-books versus paper books: what is lost and what is gained, the nature of change (?), certain listeners' DVD shelves and the window into the soul they offer, Stephen King's new 'Shining' sequel, and also Monolith's obsession with the movie 'Thor', who's now seen it four times. We talk about this and more, so, you know, click on the linky thing.

You're an A-1 nutboy, and Grissom knows it.

On this week's podcast we discuss the new Ryan Gosling film, 'Drive'. Bear Trap took in a showing this weekend and drones on and on about it. Seriously, check it out. A certain Best Supporting Actor for a Dramatic Series Emmy win by a certain Mr. Dinklage is discussed and lauded. We also discuss 'Thor' and the trailers for 'Rum Diary', 'J. Edgar', and 'Snowmen'. Also: Monolith tells a joke. This is where the fun starts.

Bonus: Here's a link to the Monolithed version of the 'Snowmen' trailer. Awful family fare is transformed into unnerving weirdness about strange children driven to make snowmen. It's actually kind of great.

You ain't got no future, Jack.

Having devoted the entire show last week to talk of the future (Star Trek), we return to the here and now for this week's podcast. [Fun technical note: we think we might have both microphones working this time, so this one might sound a little less like two guys talking in empty rooms.] On this week's episode, we talk about the number one movie in America, Steven Soderburgh's 'Contagion' (Bear Trap took in a weekend showing), which devolves into some thoughts on whether an actress by the name of Ms. Paltrow is or is not awful. We also ponder the meaning of some early hype for the upcoming Brad Pitt zombie epidemic film, 'World War Z', zombies in general, and then, naturally, boxing. Click on the link for a cochlear massage. It's a good one.

You mean when you run the show?

That show, of course, being ‘Star Trek’. We talk about it. The various series, the movies (particularly the 2009 JJ Abrams reboot), and, you know, what it all means. Also, listen in to hear interesting facts about Monolith’s former life as a Star Trek conventioneer, inside info about a memorable conference call with Captains Picard and Kirk, and an encounter with a future Trek show-runner who fields a TNG idea from a young Monolith. And hang on ‘till the end for a brief discussion on George Lucas’s addition of a dramatic ‘Nooooooo!” to the end of ‘Return of the Jedi’. (Spoiler alert: we think it's awesome.)

Why, Eckhardt. You ought to think about the future.

Listen as Monolith and Bear Trap dance like an organ grinder’s monkey to the tune set by a single listener. We are podcast whores and we’ve never denied that. First and foremost, the Steve Jobs departure is discussed in a very special Apple News segment. Then, Monolith goes on and on about how terrified he was by the “East Coast MegaQuake” (his words), we respond to a response from our response regarding “Rise of the Planet of the Apes’, and we watch and make considered flash judgments regarding trailers for ‘Ghost Rider 2’ and ‘The Lady in Black’. Click on the link and get you some of this.

I answer to Grissom, not to psychos.

On this week’s podcast: Space hookers. That’s right, faithful listeners. After receiving literally zeros of letters requesting the Little Snack crew delve deeply into the subject, we’ve delivered. Space hookers. Listen all the way to the end for our urbane exploration of this developing phenomenon. Leading up to that, listen in to two guys in their mid-thirties have an in-depth, freeform discussion about a children’s literature series. Totally normal. Totally cool. Leading in with our thoughts on the last film in the series, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two’, and expanding into a discussion of the 7 books and the 8 films, listen in as we barely scratch the surface of all that is Potter for the full segment.

Your problems are our problems.

This one may go down in Little Snack lore as the Flu podcast. Or maybe just the one where Bear Trap couldn’t manage to say anything interesting. It happens, okay? Get off my back! Anywho, in this one (under 50 minutes running time!), we attempt to discuss “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”, Bear Trap’s bear trap proves rusty when remembering the end of ’12 Monkeys’, and, also some ‘Game of Thrones’ HBO show tidbits some may find of interest.

That’s my territory. If there’s a problem, I deal with it.

Fresh podcast to tickle your ear-pieces. If you haven’t seen the new ‘Battleship’ teaser, hie thee quickly to your video disseminator of choice forthwith as the ‘Lith and the Trap have wildly different reactions. Also discussed: ‘Captain America’, ‘Cowboys and Aliens’, why aliens do and do not work in movies, ‘The Ides of March’ teaser, the appeal of Ryan Gosling, and some… phew. Bunch of stuff. Also, it’s a bit shorter, so, you know, one less reason not to listen.

Harvey Dent has been sniffing around one of our front companies.

Whether you answer to Grissom or to psychos, this podcast (#7) has something for everyone. Sure you have to endure yet another “Apple News” segment, and even a minute or more spent on something called “Book news”, but you also get to hear talk of what Michael Bay has to teach us, a very nearly intelligent discussion of the film ‘Source Code’, and then a vivisection of some of the latest trailers to hit the interwebs, like “The Iron Lady”, “Warhorse”, and the indie “Another Earth”. And Bear Trap’s voice cracks like three times. So, you know, listen for that. Enjoy!

Not sure. We don’t listen to this stuff.
